FKDL Review

FKDL

Franck Duval was born February the 2nd 1963 in Paris, where he still lives today. He began to paint in 1984 Franck’s work has changed during the time period, as now his work is becoming more modern, the work he had made before he uses block colors this might be because back then bright colours were not really rare, but recently Franck has been using a lot of bright eye catching colours this would be interesting for someone to look at whilst walking down the street.

Franck uses a lot of different materials that had been recycled such as newspapers, magazines, flyers and posters he then collages with these materials and then edits them with paint and spray paint. Franck’s work is very different compared to any other artist; he has his own unique way of putting up his.

For example in every piece of art he does he uses different materials and techniques for the same piece, when you look at Franck’s work it isn’t quite clear what he’s trying to do it’s sort of odd but at the same time I think this is good because a piece of Art won’t be as interesting it had been stated on this site. “He neglects neither the substance nor form, nor all the details and certainly not because he likes all that is hidden and does not reveal itself at first sight”. http://artbattles.com/artists/fkdl

I personally think Franck’s work is very interesting, I like the way he uses vintage newspapers and magazines in his wok and then has this bright block colour as a background, the colours he uses all match and make a really nice combination.

Gustave Dore

Gustave Dore

Paul Gustave Louis Christophe Dore was a French artist, printmaker, illustrator and sculptor. Dore worked primarily with wood engraving.

In 1869 the journalist Blanchard Jerrold joined forces with the famous French artist Gustave Dore to produce an illustrated record of the ‘shadows and sunlight’ of London. Jerrold and Dore spent many days and nights exploring the capital they visited night refuges, fashionable shows and many other places in London to get ideas; it took them 4 years to create this project and published as London with 180 images. But then Dore started to dislike sketching in public because his work only showed the extremes of society.

From looking at Dore’s work, I have established that his work is unique and different compared to other artists that I have looked at. By looking at his work, you can have a rough idea about how life was like during the 1860s. For example back then in the 1860’s there were a lot of events held and was rather crowded, and people were concentrated on their religion and the history of their country such as war. Dore mainly focuses on poverty as he draws scenes that he has experienced and according to this website, they have described these scenes as ‘’disturbing’’. http://www.prisonersofeternity.co.uk/gustave-dore-images-of-victorian-london/.

Overall, I find Gustave Dore's work very interesting due to the different techniques he uses in his works. His work has inspired me and I will be using his techniques in my own work in the future.

Raphael la coste

Raphael Lacoste lived in Canada, with his family since 2002. He was born in 1974 in Paris, but lived mostly around Bordeaux, south west of France until he left for Canada. He studied in 1993 at Fine Arts school, Art and Media option, Photography and video, at the same time, he was photographer and composer for a theatre company "les Pygmalions".

Raphael Lacoste has been an Art director on Videogames and Cinematic for more than 7 years. Raphael explains why he came to 3D “I was always looking outside the windows when I was at school… I was a boy in the moon (I’m still :) I drew a lot during the courses… finally I went to the Fine art school of Bordeaux where I studied photo and video in the “art and Media” option. “This is shown on this site http://www.raph.com/3dartists/interviews/i-i277.html .

Raphael la coste explains where he got his idea from for his picture on the Left; he explains “I did this picture after the lift originally designed by Jujol, an early 20th century Architect, friend of Gaudi. This is also shown on the same site above.

Raphael also explains his other Art work, he expresses that he wants his Art work to catch moods and moments during others play the game. He wants them to enjoy the game as much as he enjoyed making it. This is shown on this other site I found. http://www.itsartmag.com/features/interview-with-raphael-lacoste/

Yoni Alter Review

Yoni Alter work is very interesting he shows us his point of view of the way he sees cities; he uses multi colours on all of his work. I think that’s his own way to show what kind of person he is and what his personality is like; his work is also very eye catching this will grab people’s attention whilst travelling or anywhere else. Yoni uses very obvious noticeable buildings this is interesting because people can see that his work is different.

As you can see this picture on the left, he used very bright colours and had used the outlines of the buildings he hasn’t really gone in depth with the buildings structure, this is a nice way of putting his work it’s sort of a clear way to see that the buildings represent each individual city. Yoni Alter expresses his ideas and how, why he came up with these ideas on this following site; http://www.printmag.com/color/famous-skylines-interpreted-with-art/

Yoni Alter draws skylines and they’re very easy to recognise it’s a visual thing anyone could look at he has his own way looking at buildings. In each of his images you can see the overlapping of each buildings making it abstract, he has made it abstract because the outline of each building is shown and that’s how you can see he has used an over lapping skill and with using different colours of each building makes the picture as a whole stand out.

Yoni Alter speaks about his work and the prints he has made, he had become inspired with the centre point of Hyde park where you can see the London eye and The shard, he claimed that the “geometry was very interesting and I thought it would be fun to play around with it” Yoni Alter has expressed this on the Creative review website http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2014/april/yoni-alter.
